Recently, Dr. Buch and the Team traveled to Peru to provide charity dentistry to a clinic that provides dental care to those in need. It was a wonderful experience and we were so proud of the way our Team quickly adapted to the new environment and quickly started taking care of patients.
Many of the patients we treated simply do not have access to dental care and it was such a great experience to provide necessary care. The trip also reminded us all how fortunate we are to be able to spend the time and resources to help others. We plan on participating in future trips to provide charity care.
Most impoverished communities do not have access to dental care; the majority of the population have never seen a dentist. Open Wide establishes clinics in places where previously no access was available
Originating in Virginia and spreading throughout the United States, more than 70 Mission of Mercy dental programs have been conducted since 2000 to provide free dental care to local residents who otherwise were unable to receive such care. Dr. Buch, Dr. Mansfield, and the entire at Southwest Oral Surgery have participated in the inaugural 2012 MOM as well as the 2013 and 2014 MOM.
The Central Arizona Dental Society (CADS) Foundation hosted its third Mission of Mercy (MOM) event at the Arizona Fairgrounds in Phoenix, AZ, December 12 & 13, 2014 utilizing 100 portable dental units and 1500 volunteers. Approximately $1,500,000 in free care was delivered to 2,000 patients.
The Central Arizona Dental Society Foundation hosted its second MOM event at the Arizona Fairgrounds in Phoenix, AZ, December 13-14, 2013 utilizing 100 portable dental units and 1,600 volunteers. $1.4 million in free care was delivered to 2,020 patients, both children and adults.
Every year we sponsor a youth soccer team. It’s a joy to help out and watch them play.
